Now when you've finished cheering, allow us to tell you a tale about Donnie. A Long time ago, long before Donnie was Dynamite, two guys worked in an office in London, bonding over cups of tea and their love of music. After an unsuccessful stint with an office band (where both lads were keen to take on bass duties), and after lots of "I'm not sure we really need a second bass player" a rough demo for a song was exchanged.
The song was No Time, and curiously didn't have any bass parts then. No time was wasted and, after some serious head scratching at the unfamiliar music style, a bass part was recorded.
In the following years, the lads got together often, occasionally working together on the musical project Ohrwurm. More often though, they'd spend their time creating ideas and recording drafts for songs. Inspiration came from everywhere: random Wikipedia articles, sounds of the London Underground, Google translate, anything.
Fast forward and we find the lads with more than a hundred song ideas, some more finished then others, none completed. Enlisting an old band mate on vocals was the push they needed to finalise and release their first track.
Donnie Dynamite was born! Over the next few years we got to know Donnie a little better. He gets up to all sorts and stumbles from one perilous adventure into the other, although he also gets to relax in the studio with FiVe and enjoy a refreshing Tuborg.
Meanwhile, the two lads, lets call them Jakub and Roald (because, well, those are their names) are still making music together, even an international move didn't stop them. Their weekly calls are still full of creativity, music and silliness befitting only Donnie Dynamite. When they had learned that they could work on songs whilst being in different countries, Jakub and Roald started taking Donnie worldwide. Canadian drums, American rap, Italian guitars, Danish vocals, art from Czech? Everything added to Donnie Dynamite's unique take on pop-music.
Now today is a special day, because on this day, exactly 10 years ago, No Time got its bassline and Jakub and Roald's first collaboration was a fact. In 2015, with the help of Ohrwurm, No Time was released.
To mark this real special date and to celebrate our 10th anniversary we're proud to share the demo version of No Time! Give it a listen and let us know what you think!
There's still so much more music to come, so many more Donnie adventures to look forward to. While we await the next release summer is here on the northern hemisphere, a perfect time to enjoy a refreshing drink and spin Tuborg once more. For our listeners on the southern hemisphere? Grog and The Realisation perhaps? Either way, we hope you keep on enjoying Donnie Dynamite!
lyrics
This is my own way
How to finally say
I’m not ok
Deep inside my heart
Something burns me up
I’m not ok
No time for my life
For the new restart
No one can save me now
Not time for escape
To wear heros cape
This shit is creeping me up
I feel I’m waiting
For new start
I feel I‘m running
But there’s no time
Maybe I’ve lost something that has been mine
All the time but I didn’t realize
Maybe This is just a tryout
For the real world
I need to find out
