Donnie’s latest track began life after he heard a lot of commotion outside his flat. Donnie, as always, keen to turn anything into music, decided to go out and ask these people to record their chants. He got a little swept up in the energy of it all and before long joined this seemingly merry marching band. But when someone shouted some rude words, people started throwing rocks and the crowd went on a shopping spree, Donnie decided these people might not want to record music with him. A little disillusioned he went back home, but not before he quickly wrote down some lyrics. Back home this turned into a report of his experiences and once the music was added "Riot" was born.
lyrics
I'm not sure we're gonna make it
Have you heard this one before
So what is your reply
Going out to ask for changes
That is what we're fighting for
See you on the sunny side
I hope that you can understand
That this is just a start
There's a riot, it's rising
It's all over town
No longer will we be denied
There's a riot, it's rising
It's all going down
You better find a place to hide
You seem like a troublemaker
What are you really fighting for
Only in it for yourself
Going out to steal a TV
Maybe rob a liquor store
Grab everything that's on the shelf
I hope that you can understand
That this has gone too far
There's a riot, it's rising
It's all over town
No longer will we be denied
There's a riot, it's rising
It's all going down
You better find a place to hide
It all looked really good on paper
But now it's raining rocks and stones
Is this what I came here for
I wonder will it make the front page
Or get stuck behind page three
Who will even really see
I hope that you can understand
That this will leave a scar
It's a riot, it's dying
The passion ran out
Good intentions were cast aside
It's a riot, it's dying
Hope was replaced with hate
We simply took it in our stride
It's a riot, it's dying
It's time to go now
No energy left to fight
It's a riot, meant nothing
Gained us nothing at all
It only made us lose our pride
The riot it is all but over
We traded in our need for greed
